Derby-based Tidyco, a supplier of hydraulic and pneumatic products to the UK rail industry for over 40 years, has made light work with an energy efficiency project.

As part of its Corporate Social Responsibility Statement of Intent, the organisation has completed a lighting project to provide cost saving benefits as well as support on-going environmental initiatives.

A complete set of LED lighting has been installed at the centrally located manufacturing site which will deliver 60% savings on energy use.

The intelligent lighting system utilises the very latest in movement and natural light sensor technology, ensuring that lighting is only active when necessary. Furthermore, the installation boasts a reduction of 7000kg in carbon emissions.

Lux levels can be adjusted so that lighting can be adjusted to the working requirements for each respective building area.

John Wyke-Smith of Tamlite Lighting completed the preliminary system design and Tidyco then utilised the services of Phoenix Electrics of Derby to install the lighting system.

Mark Nadin, director for Phoenix says; “The Tidyco plant is a vast area with a complex mixture of differing working spaces. Large open planned production areas are coupled with a multitude of mezzanine style office environments. Phoenix Electrics completed installation work in such a manner so as not to disrupt productivity and output for the business.”

Philip Mason, production director for Tidyco concludes; “We have utilised the services of Tamlite Lighting and Phoenix Electronics for a number of years and have built a positive relationship with both companies. I highly recommend them as reliable solutions based lighting design and electrical service providers
